It's Not What The Software Does

They say Hugh MacLeod's acclaimed blog Gaping Void draws 1.5 million visitors a month, and his ebook, How to Be Creative, has been downloaded more than a million times. In Ignore Everybody, his recently published book that's available in hardcover, he expands his thoughts about unleashing creativity in a world that often thwarts it.

The cartoons drawn on the backs of business cards that illustrate Hugh MacLeod's thoughts on his blog, his ebook, and his new book, are great conversation starters.

Simple, but true. There are a couple reasons software should be patentable. First, compatibility. If software can be made to function and also be compatible with Vista that is a feat in and of itself. Second, human error. Anyone who can anticipate each and every user error and still have something that functions has most definitely provided meaningful innovation!
