National Inventor of the Year Nominations

Nominations for the 2008 National Inventor of the Year Award are now being solicited for independent inventors and for inventors employed in industry, universities, and government. Nominees should epitomize the American traditions of technological leadership and “Yankee ingenuity.”

The National Inventor of the Year Award is given by Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to educational and charitable activities designed to improve intellectual property rights.

An inventor is eligible for the 2008 award if the invention meets all three of the following requirements:

(1) originated in the U.S.;
(2) is covered by a U.S. patent; and
(3) was patented since 2004 or commercialized recently.

Supporting materials must include:

(1) A one-page, non-technical summary of the invention;
(2) A one-page biography of the inventor; and
(3) A copy of the U.S. patent.

You may also submit supplemental materials to support your nomination. Photographs or drawings of the invention may be helpful. Newspaper or magazine articles, technical reports, independent evaluations, and marketing information are also useful. Anyone may submit a nomination. Self-nominations are accepted. Deadline for entries is March 31, 2008.
